Courtney & Si Thomas
First Baby of the year

The last thing Courtney Thomas of Elko, Nevada expected on New Year’s Eve was to be at University Hospital delivering a new baby girl.

With a baby of 34 weeks, Courtney awoke at 5:45 AM on December 31st when her water had broken. After an examination, Courtney and her husband Si were told that delaying delivery of the baby in hopes that the membrane would repair would be relatively high risk. The only problem was that North Eastern Nevada Regional Hospital, like many community hospitals, was not equipped for a baby of 34 weeks.

Although nervous, Courtney and Si wanted the best for their new baby and agreed that the safest route was to be flown by AirMed to the University Hospital. At 5:45 AM, the Thomas family welcomed little Taiomah, first baby of the year, without serious complication. Thanks to the well-equipped nursery and caring staff, Taiomah was ready to return home to family and friends after only three weeks.

With the help of generous donor support, University Hospital is prepared to saves lives like little Taiomah's. University Health Care is looking for ONE more specialist. YOU. Specialize in generosity.
